Dutch-German padel duo Bruijsten/Nowicki play FIP 1000 in Alicante
Within the framework of the World Padel Tour an international padel tournament will take place in Alicante from 20 to 27 August 2017, which will award FIP points (FIP 1,000) as well as WPT points. Most of the padel cracks from Spain and Argentina will be at the start, but the Dutch-German duo Bruijsten/Nowicki is also registered and will play their first round match against Richard Brooks & Guillermo Castañón on Sunday at 5 pm.
Not an easy opponent, but since both Bruijsten and Nowicki played in the last tournaments (among others in Cologne at the Walls padel facility and at the Padel Club Nuremberg Marienberg) were very successful, there were definitely chances of advancing to the next round.
Unfortunately, luck was not on Bruijsten/Nowicki's side.
Nowicki's first service game gave them 2 game points, but they still conceded the break and were down 0:1 right from the start.
They have 2 break points on their second service game, but can't secure the break and are down 0:2. Bruijsten serves and it's only 1:2! Then another break point for Brooks/Castañon, but again a bit of luck is missing and instead of 2:2 they are trailing 1:3. They can't come back from this deficit and lose the first set 2:6.
In the second set everything was even until 3:4 - then Brooks/Castañon made the only break and also took the second set home.
It's a pity, but Bruijsten/Nowicki delivered a great match and gave everything.
We keep our fingers crossed for the next WPT tournament!
