Report from the GPS Padel Summer Tournament ITXASO in Munich
On 11 and 12 July, a conference was held in the SportScheck All-Weather Facility in Unterföhring (near Munich) the II. Padel Summer Tournament ITXASO of the Padel Club Munich e.V. took place. The GPS categories B for men and C for women attracted a total of 12 men's doubles and 6 women's doubles to the course. In glorious summer weather, the 36 participants had a lot of fun and were of course responsible for some breathtaking rallies. Participants also came from Cologne and Frankfurt to take part in the third Padel Club Munich tournament in 2015, which is on the calendar of the German Padel Series of the German Padel Association was integrated.
After hard-fought matches, Silvia Sanz, Cristina Grau and Marta Villar, Zuzana Jirkovska finally faced each other in the women's final. Silvia and Cristina underlined their supremacy in Munich and gave Marta and Zuzana no chance with 6:1, 6:0.
In the men's final, it came down to a clash between Munich and Cologne, when Ignacio Gutiérrez and Dennis Gatzke, two players from the Cologne university team, faced off against local heroes Isaac San Frutos and Stephan Döppenschmidt. After a close first set, Ignacio and Dennis finally won the second ITXASO Padel Summer Tournament of the Padel Club Munich 7:5, 6:2.
A big thank you of course goes to the tournament main sponsor ITXASO (www.itxaso.de), who took care of the catering for all guests and players on Saturday and had great prizes for the respective finalists. Also to our official ball sponsor WILSON (German Padel Series & Padel Club Munich), who provided the balls and other prizes. Last but not least, a big "Merci" to DROP SHOT for their unwavering support.
We are already looking forward to the next tournament on 5/6 September, the II Pre-Wiesn Tournament WILSON, after which the Oktoberfest can come!
