Home victory: von Ketelhodt/ Petzold win padel tournament in Worms
The Germany-wide padel tournament series made a stop in Worms-Pfiffligheim/Rhineland-Palatinate last weekend and played a top-class padel tournament there in the Pfrimmparkarena. The field of participants came from all over Germany; among others, padel players from Munich, Karlsruhe, Nuremberg and Cologne were there.
In the women's competition, the second seeds K. Kramer/E. Garin - the latter from Spain - won 9-7 against Ch. Benesch/M. Herhoffer in a thrilling and close match in the last group match.
In the men's competition, the first semi-final - watched by the head of the sports department, Uwe Franz - between U. Petzold/St. Luers from Worms and the experienced doubles team of C. Schulz/M.Grosso came down to a matchtiebreak in the decisive third set, which the Worms team won 10:6.
In the second semi-final, T. Petzold/M. von Ketelhodt from Worms beat the number 2 seed M. Herhoffer/D. Konstantinidis from Mannheim and Karlsruhe, also in a third set match tiebreak with 10:8. So it came to the "brothers' meeting" in the final, which the "older" brother T. Petzold clearly dominated from the beginning with his team partner M. von Ketelhodt. In the end, U. Petzold/St. Luers had to admit defeat with 2:6/1:6 and envylessly acknowledge the first Worms victory of the doubles pair Thomas Petzold and Michael von Ketelhodt.
