Cuxhaven Padel Open - favourites prevail in top weather
The first Cuxhaven Padel Open took place on Saturday in perfect weather. It was organised as a GPS 1000 tournament by the German Padel Association scored. This means that the winning doubles each receive 1000 points for the DPV ranking list.
Five teams played in group mode for the victory - besides three strong teams from category B, two of the currently best padel doubles in Germany were also at the start:
Lennart Samuelsen from the SC Padel Condor Hamburg and Christan Böhnke from the Padel TV Espelkamp and the multiple German champion Justus Herbert (Padel Frankfurt Niddapark) and Lars Bosselmann (currently clubless).
This player had already won some titles in the past GPS tournaments and it was therefore foreseeable that the Cuxhaven Padel Open winner would emerge from these two.
In the final, Samuelsen/Böhnke then won 6/1 6/2 4/6 6/1 against Herbert/Bosselmann.
In the match for third place, two Cuxhaven teams faced each other. Here, too, the result was clear, even if it was not as expected. Martin Sukal and Florian Scheel beat the doubles Cavero / Kraßmann 6/1 and 6/1.
The winners received a voucher for new padel shoes from the ball sponsor HEAD Padel.
In addition, there were 200 euros for the winning pair, 100 euros for the runners-up and 50 euros for the third-placed pair - sponsored by Padel-Test.de.
Due to a football tournament taking place at the same time, it was possible to advertise paddle sports very well and there were many interested enquiries about our great sport, which was still unknown to many.
Here you will certainly see one or the other again in the near future on one of the padel courts!
